PROFILE OF BARANGAY SAN LUCAS, CAMALIGAN, CAM. SUR

PROFILE OF BARANGAY SAN LUCAS, CAMALIGAN, CAM. SUR
By: Dominador N. Marcaida, Jr.
SB-Camaligan, Camarines Sir, Philippines 4401

A. History:

Our first informant, PB Cyril Agomaa (1994 up to the present), the chapel had been donated by Florencio Agomaa and Reynaldo Iñigo. During former Teniente del Barrio Pelagio Angeles’ term (          ), the barangay hermita was already constructed at the present site, made of wooden planks as wall and corrugated iron for roofing. Its repair was undertaken during the term of Ex-Barangay Captain and Ex-Municipal Councilor Romeo San Lorenzo, which began its concreting in 1994. Additional renovation was undertaken by its incumbent Punong Barangay Cyril Agomaa, which extended its floor area through additional donation from the original donors.
Construction of the barangay hall was began by Ex-Barangay Captain Romeo San Lorenzo. Concreting and the addition of the second floor were undertaken during the term of incumbent Punong Barangay.
The Tawagon family donated a right of way from the western portion of their property going to the Camaligan Central School, which is already enclosed with concrete fence inside the school compound.
Romeo San Lorenzo was the brother of Sergio San Lorenzo (married to Feliciana Cordial) of San Juan, Camaligan. They had sisters by the name of Zenaida (married to Emerenciana Auro’s brother Otelio Auro) and Teresita (married to a certain Pemeniano). They were the children of the first marriage of their father, Jesus San Lorenzo, to Illuminada Mariscal. When Jesus San Lorenzo remarried with Gorgonia, they had another set of children by the name of Hermita, Norma and Jesus San Lorenzo Jr.
The San Lorenzos of Camaligan may have descended from their ancestors Mariano Lumbria and Mathea Candelaria.
Mariano Lumbria, married Mathea Candelaria, begot Calistro (married to Manuela Dominga Candelaria) and Antonio (who married Maria Dominga).
Calistro Lumbria begot Francisco Lumbria who married Luisa Lumbria and begot Vicenta Lumbria who was married twice: first marriage was to Regino Dagpa who begot Gregoria Dagpa [married to Brigido Abad (son of Evaristo Abad and Petrona Aligasin) who begot Placido Dagpa  (b. 1885)], and Maria Dagpa (married to Manuel Francisco (son of Gregorio Francisco and Pasquala de la Concepcion) and begot Sabino Francisco (b. 1887). Vicenta Lumbria’s second marriage was to Mariano Felisardo Dagpa, who begot Jafa (b. 1848)  and Cayetano (married to Juana Mateo Lorenzo (the daughter of Nazario Mateo Lorenzo and Raymunda de la Concepcion), and begot Macario San Lorenzo Dagpa (married to Encarnacion Blas of Tarosanan), Sergia (born 1887), and Joaquin San Lorenzo Dagpa (b. 1884) who married Aquilina Alden who begot Agapito, Maria (married to Arsenio Alipante), Basilisa, Eugenia, and Jesus San Lorenzo.
Jesus San Lorenzo was married twice:  first marriage was to Iluminada Marsical and begot Teresita (married to Pemeniano), Zenaida (married to Ofelio Auro), Romeo, and Sergio (married to Feliciana Cordial); second marriage was with Gorgonia de la Concepcion and begot Hermita, Norma, and Jesus San Lorenzo Jr.
Antonio Lumbria, Mariano’s second son, married Maria Dominga and begot Petrona (married to Aguido de los Santos, the son of Antonio de los Santos and Portacia Ago Hipolito) and begot Laureano (b. 1873), Pascual (married to Flora Bermudo (daughter of Alberto Bermudo and Valentina Candelaria) and begot Quiterio (b. 1873).

Our second informants were the spouses Julian Custodio Alforte and Josefina Alipante.
Julian Alforte, 76 years old, was born 18 October 1933 at Barangay San Lucas at the house of his parents located in the present property of Godofredo Nicolas of Zone 1 beside the San Lucas creek. His parents were Anselmo Alforte of Barangay Sto. Tomas and Maria Custodio of Barangay Dugcal, Camaligan. His brothers and sisters Felicisma (married to Alfredo Cabaylo), Pedro (married to Estelita), Teresita (married to Domingo Nidea), and Jose (married to Nida).
Josefina Alforte, 73 years old (born 5 December 1936) and a native of Barangay Sto. Tomas, was the daughter of Catalino Alipante and Mercedes Alabat. Out of this first marriage of his mother to Catalino Alipante, were born Josefina’s brothers and sisters, who were as follows:  Rosario (married to Eduardo Agomaa, now residing at Sabang, Naga City), Rogerio (married to Zenaida Vargas, residing now at Busac, Libmanan).  From her mother’s second marriage with Santiago Servidad Sr., her step-brothers and sisters were the following: Flora Servidad (married to Pedro Alcanar of San Vicente, Libmanan), Andres Servidad (married to Illuminada Buenafe), Angelica (married to Benjamin Enciso of San Isidro, Libmanan) and Santiago Servidad Jr. (residing at Bahai, Libmanan, Camarines Sur).
Julian Alforte and Josefina Alipante were married on 28 April 1955. Since they had no children of their own, they adopted the children from the spouses Pedro Alcanar and Flora Servidad by the name of Elmer Alforte (married to Magdalena Alparan) and Nancy Alipante, the daughter of Rogerio Alipante and Zenaida Vargas. After their marriage, they transferred from Julian parent’s property in Zone 1 to the property bought Josefina’s father, Catalino Alipante, from Helacio Mañago of Zone 2 where their present house is now located.
During the Japanese occupation, Julian, who was then just 10 years old, evacuated with his parents to Barangay Dugcal at Vidal Custodio’s property. They went back to Barangay San Lucas after liberation. Josefina also evacuated with her parents and family to Busac, Libmanan, where they stayed until after liberation also.
The couple’s source of livelihood was selling nipa goods at the market stall which they inherited from Josefina’s parents. Now, they own their own stall of nipa goods at the Naga supermarket. Julian’s parents supported his family’s needs by planting various cash crops on their lot at Barangay Dugcal, the produce of which were sold at the Naga market. The couple also engaged in intensive rice farming after they were wed up to the present at Sitio Napao, Cagbibi, on the farm they inherited as Josefina’s share from Catalino Alipante, her father.
Our second informant is Cecilia Monte, married to Crescencio Tawagon of San Lucas, Camaligan. Cresencio’s parents were Antonio Tawagon (whose mother was an Alimuin), and Segunda Angeles, a native of Libmanan). Cresencio’s other brothers and sisters were Bernardino, Maria, Teofila, Felicitas, maxima, Lourdes and Eleuterio Tawagon.
Antonio’s other brothers and sisters, were Florencia Tawagon, who was married to Roman Delfin of Tinagkihan, Libmanan and had twin sons by the name of Eufronio and Antonio Delfin (Lot 45 is declared under Eufronio Delfin’s name),  Zacarias who had a son by the name of Dario Tawagon (Lot 42  is declared under the name of Dario Tawagon (married to Norma Corpuz, the daughter of Evaristo Corpuz), but was sold by him to Lourdes Tawagon and later sold to Crescencio Tawagon), and Marciano Tawagon.
The spouses Crescencio Tawagon and Cecilia Monte resided first in Naga after they were married. They owned a store in Naga but after it was burned, they relocated to Tinangkihan, LIbmanan, and then transferred to barangay San Lucas in 10 June 1964 on Lot 44 declared now under Cecilia Tawagon’s name but was the property of Crescencio Tawagon as his share of inheritance from Antonio Tawagon. Antonio Tawagon inherited the whole Tawagon property (consisting of Lots 41, 42, 44 and 45) from is mother who was an Alimuin.
Lot 41, the lot adjacent to Dario Tawagon’s property, is declared under the name of Jose Constante, married to Milagros Alipopo. But the original owner of this property, according to  the information supplied by Maximo Corpus of Barangay Sto. Tomas, was Nemesio Alipopo, the father of Milagros Alipopo, the spouse of Jose Constante.
Our third informant is Perfecto Apring, the son of Jacinto Apring from his second marriage with Benedicta Aligata.
Jacinto Apring’s first marriage with a certain woman bore him children by the name of Telesforo Apring (married to Maria Agrado), Jose Apring (married to Catalina Ragas, the daughter of Sixta Ragas, who was the adopted child of Benita Abias, whose husband was Mariano Apring), and Veneranda (who died at a young age). Jose Apring and Catalina Ragas, had daughters by the name of Herminia, Mercedes, Purita (who married a certain Trio), and Francia (married to Efren Reyes).
Jacinto Apring’s second marriage with Benedicta Aligata bore him four children by the name of Perfecto (married on 17 December 1953 to Cecilia Presentacion of Caramoan, Camarines Sur, who also bore him Ricardo, William, Leonardo, Sonia, Doris, Maricel and Anna Marie), Enemesio (married to Magdalena), Marciano (married to Josefina Albao) and Juanita (who died in childhood).
Perfecto informed us that farming was the main occupation of his parent. They had a farm at Patong, Pamplona. When the Japanese came in 1942, he was just 18 years old. He enlisted as a trainee with the Philippine army, but was aborted because the Japanese had already landed at Legazpi port in Legazpi, Albay. His mother and his whole family evacuated to Sitio Napao, Cagbibi, Pamplona, where they stayed until liberation.
Perfecto also informed us that Constancio Cordial (married to Mining) donated the property adjacent to their property at San Lucas to the Camaligan Central School. This swampy land (Lot 58) now became part of the property of Sto. Tomas National High School. Constancio Cordial was then a municipal councilor of Camaligan.
Merecedes Peraan, the declared owner of Lot 48, was the daughter of Catalina Ragas, the spouse of Jose Apring. Catalina Ragas was also the adopted child of the spouses Mariano and Benita Abias.
The rice lands now declared under the Dr. Felix and Cesar Prado (Lots 1 and 2) at Barangay Sto. Tomas were also part of the original property of Constancio Cordial.

Lot 37 is declared under Matea Adzuara. Matea Adzuara’s maiden name was Adarlo. She was married to Rufo Adzuara. She had a sister by the name Natalia Adarlo, who was married to Daniel Paibay of Pasacao. Matea Adarlo and Natalia Adarlo were the daughters of the spouses Modesto Adarlo and Dorotea Trinidad Baldocea of Marupit, Camaligan. Dorotea Trinidad Baldocea had a brother by the name of Bonifacio who were the children of a certain Trinidad Baldocea. The present occupant of lot 37, Roderick Paibay, is the son of Daniel Paibay and Natalia Adarlo.
Lot 36, declared under Nicolas Acorin, was the original property of the spouses Adriano Acorin and Petra Abias, who begot Nicolas (married to Gorgonia of Buhi, Camarines Sur and begot Virginia), Nicanor and Jovito.
Lot 39 is declared to Spouses Igmedio Mauricio and Norberta Aurellano.
Lot 40, declared under Mariano Castillo who was married to Andrea Aurellano. This lot formerly belonged to the spouses Atanacio Aurellano who was married to Macaria Abad.  Later it was subdivided to their four daughters and one son who were Natividad (married to Porfirio Avila), Andrea (married to Mariano Castillo), Virginia (single with a stall at the Naga City market), Josefina Aurellano (married to Luis Alparan),  Norberta (married to Igmedio Mauricio), and Cirilo (who lived in Manila).
The Aurellano Clan of San Lucas, according to Josefina Aurellano Alparan, may have descended from the siblings Atanacio (married to Macaria Abad), Epifanio (married to Dalmatia), Guadalupe (single), Roman (married to Teodora Reyes, whose children were Hospicio, Salina and Celerina), and Ciriaca (was remarried to Gavino).
Atanacio Aurellano and Macaria Abad had the following children: Natividad [married to Porfirio Avila who begot Antonio (single), Rosario (married to Alfredo Azutillo), Vicente, Francia (married to Restituto Espiritu) and Corazon)], Andrea (married to Mariano Castillo who begot Carmen, Ernesto and Domingo), Norberta (married to Igmedio Mauricio), Cirilo (married to Oliva who begot Corazon and Jose), Virginia (single), and Josefina [married to Luis Alparan who begot Danilo (single), Alex (married to Narlita Melante), Luis Jr. (married to Ruth), and Lilia (single)].

Lot 30, declared under Fausta Flores, was the property of Fausta Abias, who was married to Juan Flores, a native of Minalabac, Camarines Sur. Juan Flores was the brother of Marcelo Flores, the father of  Ex-Municipal Councilor Antonio Flores. The property adjacent to Lot 30, which is Lot 1 of San Juan, Camaligan, declared under Wilfredo Silerio, was the property of Mauricia Abias, the grandmother of Maximo Corpuz, who was the son of Cesaria Trinidad whose mother was Mauricia Abias.
